Aadhaar OTP Hotel Check-In Software

Verify every guest in under 30 seconds. Legally compliant. Zero paper copies.

The Aadhaar Act 2016 prohibits hotels from collecting physical photocopies of Aadhaar cards. Yet most Indian hotels still do it — creating legal risk, security exposure and slow check-ins. StayDesk integrates with UIDAI's official Aadhaar OTP API to give your front desk a legal, instant, paperless alternative.

How It Works

01

Staff enters Aadhaar number

The front desk enters the guest's 12-digit Aadhaar number into StayDesk. No photocopy needed.

02

OTP sent to guest's phone

UIDAI sends a one-time password to the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar. Takes under 3 seconds.

03

Guest enters OTP

The guest reads out or types the OTP on the StayDesk screen. Verification is confirmed by UIDAI instantly.

04

Guest profile auto-filled

Name, date of birth, gender and address are automatically populated into the guest record. Check-in complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Aadhaar OTP check-in mandatory for hotels in India?

Collecting physical Aadhaar copies is prohibited under the Aadhaar Act 2016. Hotels can use UIDAI's official OTP-based verification as a legal alternative. It is not mandatory to use OTP, but it is the only legally safe way to use Aadhaar for identity verification.

Does StayDesk store the guest's Aadhaar number?

No. StayDesk does not store the Aadhaar number. The number is sent to UIDAI's API for verification and is not retained in our database. Only the verified profile data (name, DOB, address) is saved in the guest record.

What if the guest's phone number is not linked to their Aadhaar?

In this case the OTP cannot be delivered. StayDesk allows staff to fall back to manual ID entry using passport, driving licence or voter ID as an alternative form of identity.
